A practice

The Seven-Minute Journal

A short practice for letting an experience find its words.

It is best done by hand — the hand knows things when it holds a pen that it forgets on a keyboard.

Gather a writing pad, a pencil or pen, and settle into a place where the words are invited to flow.

Read your prompt. Set everything else aside. When you’re ready, start the timer and write for seven minutes without stopping and without editing — let the story arrive the way it wants to. There is no wrong way, and no one is grading.

Share your story

When your page feels ready, photograph it and share it here. We read every story with care; with your permission we may add it to The Power of Story, anonymized as your initials and country.

A clear photo of your handwriting is perfect — we can read even challenging penmanship. Up to about 10 MB.

So we can reach you — never published, never shared.
